World Boss' Day!

Today, October 16th is the international day to celebrate your boss.

It was started in 1958 when Patricia Bays Haroski, then an employee at State Farm Insurance Company in Deerfield, Ill., registered the holiday with the Chamber of Commerce of the United States. She designated October 16 as the special day because it was her father’s birthday.

“Ms. Haroski’s purpose was to designate a day to show appreciation for her boss and other bosses. She also hoped to improve the relationship between employees and supervisors. She believed young employees often do not realize the challenges bosses face in running a business.

But seriously, is this for real? Come to think of it, I think we all celebrate/appreciate our bosses everyday with actions like..finishing that phone call sweetly with the obnoxious craazzzy customer without dropping it midway, staying back very late to finish up that impromptu project and then  resuming 6am the next day, not talking back when the strings of corporate insults sprout up from her perfectly lined lips, remaining in the his office even when he releases a string of choking farts, picking up his shirts from the drycleaner when you are the Head of Accounts..ladi lada da!

So, i'd think that every day we have the gift to touch people in a positive way, so when the boss forgives you for dropping the standards or does something that you appreciate like bringing chocolates from his trip. By all means, do not wait to acknowledge it until the next Boss' Day.

Happy Boss' Day!
